AFRICA 2014 VIDEO
I choose the overland trip with Intrepid travel tours, driving along dusty roads in the truck, camping, setting up base, me and tent mate Ange got our tent set up and set down to under a mere 10 minutes by the end of it. Getting into the cooking and the cleaning, ‘Flapping’ the art of holding a kitchen utensil after washing and waving them in the air like you just don’t care as a means of drying them in order to be packed away, a great arm workout. The attempted uses of Swahili, stocking up on the local alcohol on offer, tasting every beer along the way and finding a few gems, Amarula, just Amarula guys. Along with 3 great guides, Ben, Ken and Patrick who made the time memorable.
Some of the other travellers were taking on the gorilla treks in Kenya and Uganda, whilst some had just finished the month prior travelling up from Cape Town to Vic Falls. And here I was thinking 1 month was waaay to long, now I’m itching to go back. I feel like I’ve hardly seen the continent of Africa, there’s just too much to explore.
Although that one month spent travelling through Africa was a dream come true type experience.
It was actually exactly like how mainstream media played it out to be, even as I stepped out of the airport I heard the beat of the african drums and the call of wild, like something out of Jumanji or the Wild Thornberry’s. Quite literally actually, it was a band of african drummers welcoming new travellers.
The safari’s were exquisite! Being able to knock off the Big 5 in one day was such a good tick off the bucket list moment. Accompanied by some of the best drivers and guides, walking with rhinos and the chase to get some great leopard shots because they knew it was totally worth it. Giraffes poking their head around, elephants and hyenas walking through our camp grounds in the Serengetti, sitting around the campfire and the night sky like I’ve never seen before.
This may be a little late, just over a year now. But better late than never. I know originally everyone wanted this to the classic Karl Wolf’s - Africa, but copyright laws these days on youtube and the tempo didn’t fit as well, hope y'all still enjoy this one.
Enjoy, Asante!
